RESULTS OF 2019 ANNUAL IAOMR COMPETITIONS

Note:-
The results shall also be announced at the inaugural ceremony of the 31st National Conference of IAOMR 2019 at Amritsar
The winners shall be awarded at the 31st Annual General Body Meeting to be held on 16th November, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency, MBM Farms, Grand Trunk Rd, Adjoining Alpha One, Rajinder Nagar, City Centre, Amritsar - 143001, Punjab, at around 2:30 PM
The participation certificates can be collected from Dr Manisha Khorate, Joint Secretary (Mobile no. 9823213773) at the venue of the 31st National Conference of IAOMR 2019 at Amritsar
All winners and participants are instructed to request their colleagues or friends to collect their prizes and participation certificates from Dr Manisha Khorate, Joint Secretary (Mobile no. 9823213773), in case they are not able to make it to the conference

Curriculum revision

MDS CURRICULUM REVISION IN ORAL MEDICINE & RADIOLOGYMDS CURRICULUM REVISION IN ORAL MEDICINE & RADIOLOGY - MDS REGULATIONS 2019 (3rd AMENDMENT) GAZETTE of INDIA, Extraordinary Part-III, Section -4, Dated: 26th August 2019 The Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology is pleased to inform all stake holders that the scope of the MDS curriculum in the specialty has been widened to include several vital areas such as all imaging modalities of the Head and Neck (including, CBCT, CT, USG, MRI etc), use of LASER’s in the management of mucosal lesions and relevant aspects of Forensic Odontology amongst others. Consequently, training in the MDS program for the specialty must include these areas with immediate effect. This will ensure that the students are better equipped with knowledge and skills to cater to patient needs in future. The Academy wishes to place on record the commendable work done by the Curriculum revision committee members- Dr Anjana Bagewadi, Dr Laxmikant Chatra, Dr Chaya A. David, Dr Gopakumar R Nair, Dr Mohitpal Singh and Dr Shashikant MC over the last several years in this direction. The Academy requested Dr Gopakumar to participate in the intense 2 day curriculum scrutiny meeting organized by the DCI on the 31st of October and 01st of November 2018 where he put forth all suggestions. Such desirable curricular changes, in the scope of the MDS program for our specialty, were made possible by collective efforts of Academy members. While IAOMR thanks the Dental Council of India for making these changes possible it is prudent to mention that training in Tobacco cessation techniques and Geriatric dentistry also need to be included in the MDS curriculum as soon as possible. The Academy reiterates that enhancing the scope and quality of training in the specialty, rather than diluting this training by including non-specialty training is the need of the hour. I request all members to work towards these common objectives and desist from loose comments on all platforms of social media. NATIONAL ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY DAY

Date : 24th April every year

Dear IAOMR Members,

It has been unanimously decided at the 2nd Executive Committee (EC) Meeting on 16th March 2019 at Mumbai that with effect from the year 2019, the 24th of April shall be celebrated by the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR) as the NATIONAL ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY DAY to commemorate the official recognition of the Academy by the Government following its registration with the Registrar of Societies, Government of Karnataka.

The concept of NATIONAL ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY DAY was raised in the 1st EC Meeting in Bengaluru on 30th December 2018, following which a notice was put out on the IAOMR website inviting opinion from members. IAOMR was registered and recognized by the Government of Karnataka on 24th April 1985. In the 2nd EC Meeting after extensive discussions the decision to celebrate the 24th of April as the NATIONAL ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY DAY was made unanimously.
